Massive garage sale this weekend in Bexley

An interactive map lets you know where to go and what you will find.

BEXLEY, Ohio – Right now people are paying more for just about everything. Garage sales are a great way to find what you need for less or earn a little extra cash.

There’s a massive community-wide sale happening this weekend, involving over 100 hosts. The best part about it – you can plan your plan in advance.

For Catie Swendal, this year’s sale is a chance for her daughter to raise money to cover the cost of summer camp.

She packed a box of children’s books. Books that her children grew up reading.

“I think they’re going to be 50 cents a pound. Maybe even less maybe like 25 cents,” she said.

“Families can get what they need,” she said.

Saturday, May 14, the town of Bexley is organizing a large community garage sale.

“It’s good for the locals, it’s good for those looking for a bargain, it’s also very good for the environment,” said Ben Kessler, Mayor of the Town of Bexley.

On the city website, you can see all the locations to plot your route in advance. You see where the hosts are and what they sell here.

The sale takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you wait until the afternoon, you may be able to save even more. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the event turns into a “freecycle”. Neighbors can place between the curb and the sidewalk unsold items that are free to be taken away.

“I’m excited to see people going out and finally being able to visit neighbours,” Swendal said. “It will just be nice to see everyone.”

At last check, there were 152 homes registered for sale – a new record.
