Truman Schools offering meals to students | News, Sports, Jobs

TRUMAN — The Truman Public Schools Food Service is offering FREE breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under, Monday through Friday in the school cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please use gate 7 in front of the school. No meals will be served from June 30 to July 6. Please encourage your child to stay healthy with nutritious meals.

Truman’s Trinity Lutheran Church is hosting a salad lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 29. Enjoy over 25 salads, crackers, fresh fruit, vegetarian pizza, deviled eggs, egg salad and cheese sandwiches, desert bars and drinks. Take advantage of all this for a cost of $8 for adults, with children 10 and under for $3. Take-out meals are available. Sorry, no deliveries.

The University of MN Raptor Center will be in the Truman Elementary School Auditorium at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. All are welcome to learn more about raptors and other birds of prey. You will see a hawk, owl, falcon, bald eagle, etc. This event is hosted by the Martin County Library Summer Reading Program.

Garage sales are scheduled from July 21 to 23. If you would like to arrange a sale, please contact Linda at (507) 776-5031 or Denise at (507) 236-3902 by July 1 so that your information and location can be included on the map.

If you are a business, fire department, politician, civic group, or class reunion, wishing to participate in the Truman Days Parade at 5 p.m. on July 23, you must register by July 16. Contact Nancy Salic at (507) 776-2930 or (507) 236-1314.

Heavens Table partners with the City of Truman to provide a monthly food box distribution. It is accessible to individuals or families. There is an income limit, but no one will be turned away. If you would like to register or get more information, please contact Justin at (507) 236-5015 or Patty at (507) 848-7433. Volunteers can express their interest according to their schedule by calling (507) 238-5424.
